1000’s Years Beauty of Arundel Castle and Gardens

Arundel Castle and Gardens, the seat of the Howards for almost 1,000 years, and a Gothic Style cathedral that may have been teleported here from northern France are high on the chalk ridge. Arundel Castle & Gardens has plenty of lovely Georgian and Victorian-era homes.

With many galleries and studios for such a small town, as well as a vibrant arts festival at the end of August, it is a real find for art lovers. The town is also on the cusp of the South Downs National Park, and with all the pleasure of the seaside, a few miles from the West Sussex coast. I have been to Arundel Castle and Gardens, and I actually know how amazing the place is.

There are too many to be picked from Arundel Castle and Gardens. Storm the Arundel Castle Battlements, swim in the two outdoor pools of the Lido, or play world-class cricket at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club with a front-row view of the South Downs. All the pictures that will be added were taken by myself while roaming around the Arundel Castle and Gardens. It has been an amazing experience for me to visit such an amazing place. You people should have a visit here.

With something to do on your own, with friends, as a couple, or with the entire family, come rain or shine, Arundel has many attractions. Every day is a day of games, dresses and discussions, but some of them are more eventful than others. They proudly present their action-packed schedule of activities that provide you with lots to see, hear, and do. You will be delighted by war, entertained by musicians and fascinated by professional craftsmen, whatever the weather.

During April, along with their annual Plant Fair, the gardens have stunning settings for one of the country’s biggest displays of tulips. With the recent inclusion of the thrilling Kids’ Fight, marvel at the skills of knights on horseback during our international jousting tournament in July. You will witness, and be part of, 12,000 years of history, from Stone-Age to Star Wars over August bank holiday.

For the Arundel Castle garden team that began planting the 120,000 spring bulbs this week which includes 60,000 tulips with 160 separate tulips, Autumn is a busy time of year. In their grass maze, the holes were dug ready for planting the white ‘Thalia’ narcissi and red Apeldoorn tulip bulbs, which alone equal about 18,000 bulbs!

They have naturalized the castle landscape over the last few years by planting several spring bulbs such as Snowdrops, Camassias, Narcissus, Snake’s Head Fritillaries, and tiny botanical tulips.

Booking of Arundel Castle and gardens

Booking is imperative. Led tours can be scheduled during the morning for parties of at least 20 before the State Rooms are open to tourists (10.00 to 11.45). £ 23.00 (no concessions) per user. Minimum £ 460.00 fee, one Castle Guide for up to 25 guests. Tours are 1 hour and 15 minutes long. Not open to school/student parties at all.

In their Castle Store, you can find a wonderful selection of souvenirs. They are thrilled to serve local farmers, and you will discover wonderful homemade chocolates, delicious shortbread cookies and local honey under our Made in Sussex banner, along with jams and pickles that are both common and tasty gifts. From their armoury of swords, shields, axes and helmets, children and young people at heart will be able to choose a weapon of choice to join the fun.

 

Oh, starving? Huh? Thirsty? In Arundel, you’ll be spoilt for options. Arundel is known for its vast range of places to eat and drink, caters to every palate and budget. Light bites, snacks, conventional ice teas and filling hot lunches are served in the town’s tearooms, cafés and coffee shops. In Arundel’s restaurants, bars and breweries, menus showcasing everything from typical English pub staples to New York-style pizza, keep tummies full and smiles big.

 

For schools and learners of all ages, Arundel Castle & Gardens are excellent learning opportunities. Students visit the houses and gardens of almost 1,000 years of history to draw from, ask about the people who lived here and how their lives may have been, and find out when the castle was first built, what happened over the ages, and how it became the residence of the Dukes of Norfolk.

Arundel Castle and Gardens are now closed due to Covid-19. On April 1st, 2021, they expect to re-open it. However, they have immersive activities from the convenience of your home where you can enjoy their events.
